It was delightful to host @jontybush MP at the kindy this week. She enchanted the children with her reading of 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt', and even disclosed she had been known to squelch through mud herself! We were also pleased to brief Jonty on the endangered Birdwing Butterfly Vine growing healthily on our perimeter fence, the product of more than a decade of work by kindy staff and families and local bush care groups. Our perimeter fence needs replacing and we hope to save this vine, so we've applied for a state government grant to support this important project which will benefit our entire Bardon community. Following the massive success of our 2023 Term 2 Bowman Park Planting day, we are again collaborated with the Bowman Park Frog Habitat Group for another planting morning. This time, we will be working on the Curlew Corner up the hill from Kindy (corner of Simpsons Rd and David Ave). This project will further expand and protect the Curlew Habitat whist also addressing the overland water flow and erosion issue which directly impacts the Kindy during heavy rain. It is also a more accessible site for our Kindy classes to visit to observe and appreciate. When: Sunday 15th October Where: Bowman Park slope behind Unit 1 classroom - see map. Time: 8:45am for a 9am start What to bring: Appropriate sun safe clothing, closed in shoes, hat, water, and gloves.
